Ways to Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in DC

by | May 6, 2024

Memorial Day Weekend is right around the corner and DC has a lot to offer for things to do to get out and about that weekend and honor our military.

The National Memorial Day Parade: Our Sacred Honor will tell the story of America’s sacrifice through today and will be filmed for a special that will air on ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX stations.  In addition to historical re-enactors, veterans and active duty military personnel, there will also be music performances and celebrity appearances.

Rolling to Remember is a motorcycle rally held on May 24th to raise awareness for veterans and facing critical issues, in addition to remembering those missing in action and prisoners of war.

Actors Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna will be hosting a the National Memorial Day Concert on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol on May 26th at 8pm.  The free concert salutes the men and women in uniform and will be aired on PBS and live-streamed online.

Pay your respects to those we have lost at the many National Mall memorials or make a stop by the Arlington National Cemetery to observe “Flags In.”  Flags will be placed on more than 250,000 graves and the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation will provide free roses to visitors who come to tribute.
