The hot spring market will quickly be upon us so get your home ready for potential buyers by completing some easy home improvement projects. According to a recent Zillow survey, 65% of recent sellers took on at least two home improvement projects to get their home ready for the market. And according to Thumbtack, a home management platform, the average cost for hiring a professional to complete these tasks is $5,400.
According to the survey, and based on homes sold in the last two years, the most popular projects that were completed before listing were interior painting (40%), carpet cleaning (35%) and landscaping (33%). About 74% of sellers felt completing these projects helped sell their homes. Updating landscaping helped with curb appeal and a fresh coat of paint helped give a the home a new, spacious and fresh feel.
Projects that didn’t make the top of the list were appliance repair or replacement and roof repair. Only 17% of sellers felt a kitchen renovation gave a worthwhile return on investment with an average cost of $10,000.
